The government is threatening a new era of austerity while our public services are at breaking point. There is an alternative. We need to tax extreme wealth now.
We've been on TV and radio nearly every day in recent weeks demanding taxes on the super rich that would raise up to £37 billion a year. This money could be used to protect our NHS and public services. Our demand to tax the super rich has been shared all over the national media, in newspapers, and thousands of times on social media. MPs, including Clive Lewis and Caroline Lucas, used our figures. Prominent journalists George Monbiot and Paul Mason shared the findings. Over 11,000 of you have signed our petition so far. With your help we can keep pushing in the media and make the government take action, avoiding damaging cuts to public services. We know the government listens to what the media says. We need to keep taxing the super rich at the top of the news agenda. With your help we can stay in the media spotlight, demanding Rishi Sunak tax the super rich and protect our public services. We need 100 people to set up a regular donation by Thursday 17 November so we can keep pushing for taxes on the super rich. Your regular donation will help us:
With your help we can push for the taxation of the super rich – and build a brighter future for generations to come. We’ve proved that we can win. We helped force the government to u-turn on tax cuts for the rich in October. Before that we worked with our allies to get the government to close tax loopholes available to big global companies and introduce a windfall tax on North Sea oil and gas producers. We can win on taxing the super rich. A real alternative is possible, and we’re going to fight for it. This is our chance to ramp up the media pressure on the government to start taxing the super rich and avert austerity. The more regular donors we have, the more likely we are to succeed.
