The UK is falling apart. Our NHS and public services crumble, while inequality surges. But we can rebuild our country. We’re living in a broken country. Millions are stuck on NHS waiting lists. Thousands struggle to get basic dental care. Our schools are crumbling. Local authorities across the country are going bankrupt. The list goes on and on. We lurch from crisis to crisis – and it feels like it’s always getting worse. A Cut and Run Budget In his recent Budget, the Chancellor announced some headline-grabbing tax cuts. But these will be offset by cutting public services in coming years. This means less money for local councils, less money for prisons and less money for public transport. We made them tax the rich The Chancellor did his best to resist dealing with the problems of our country in the Budget. But – and this is a big but – they couldn’t ignore a glaring issue in our tax system any longer. The Chancellor abolished non-dom status. It means the global super rich residing in the UK will now have to pay the same tax as the rest of us. It will raise an extra £2.7 billion a year. This is a huge win for our campaign. It shows that politicians are increasingly listening to us, and other campaigners for fairer taxes on the super-rich. We can make them go further. We know how to rebuild the UK We know that tens of billions of pounds could be raised from higher taxes on the super rich and wealthy companies and invested straight into our NHS and public services. We are in the media and in Parliament every single week campaigning and changing the media debate. We’re out there showing that tens of billions of pounds a year could be raised from wealth taxes on the super rich. And billions of pounds more from closing tax loopholes. These solutions are on the table and our work is making them a possibility. We’ve won in the past – we can do it again. We have just helped force the government to abolish non-dom status. Last year we joined forces with our partners to make the government introduce tougher rules on owning property through shady overseas shell companies. The year before we worked with our allies to force the government to introduce a windfall tax on oil giants. And we’re working right now to get tax justice into the parties’ manifestos before the next election. You have helped us to become one of the loudest voices pushing for progressive tax reform in the UK. Will you help us keep fighting in this key election year by supporting us today?
